Free Smoke Alarm Program Golden Fire will provide a free smoke alarm to every senior citizen residence, newborn infants and low/moderate income families. The goal of this program is to have at least one working smoke alarm in every home in Golden.
Child Passenger Safety Seat Checks Trained technicians will check your child’s car seat for safe installation. They will educate the parents or guardian how to correctly and safely secure their child in the car seat. Safety seat checks are free of charge and performed by appointment only. Contact Technician Ipatenco to schedule a time 303-215-8886.
Juvenile Firesetting Intervention This program provides intervention services for children playing with matches or lighters. We assess the child to determine the risk level and provide fire safety education to prevent further fire play. The goal of this program is to change the child’s behavior so they no longer play with fire.
Age Appropriate Safety Education Programs These life safety programs utilize characters, puppets and clowns and are presented to schools and public groups. The safety messages are delivered in an innovative manner utilizing modern technology, music and audience participation.
Firewise Wildfire Safety Program This program is a collaborative effort with Jefferson County Emergency Management, Jeffco Schools, Arvada Fire, West Metro Fire/Rescue, Wheat Ridge Fire, Evergreen Fire, Elk Creek Fire, Littleton Fire/Rescue, Pleasant View Fire and Fairmount Fire. This program brings a new Firewise wildfire safety program to every 6th grader in Jefferson County through Outdoor Lab. Golden Fire also provides station tours, characterization programs, a new senior citizen safety program and juvenile firesetter intervention.
Senior Fire Safety The newest program for our department is our senior safety program. We want the senior citizens in Golden to remain active in our community and continue to lead independent lives. The goal of this program is to assist in that process. We will provide a courtesy safety survey of your home, provide a File of Life and information on its use, make certain your smoke alarms work properly and help you keep your home safe from hazards. We also provide group programs on general home safety for seniors.
Fire Station Tours Golden Fire Department offers group tours of the station by appointment. The tours include a safety talk, what fire firefighters wear and looking at the fire engines.
