The Golden Police Department K-9 program consists of one handler and three dogs. The K-9 Unit is an enhanced support function for the patrol unit. The K-9’s primary functions are to respond to calls of incidents with armed, dangerous or fleeing suspects, tracking missing persons or suspects, crowd control, building searches, searches for articles and evidence and public demonstrations.
Officer Bob Wilson works patrol with K-9 Spark. Spark is a male German Shepherd who has worked for the Department since 2006. He is trained as a Patrol and Explosives Detection Dog. He is committed to assuring the safety of the citizens he serves.
